MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) gears up for the National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month 2023, an annual celebration instituted in 2008. This year’s event, held in June, focuses on the theme of “Connecting Communities, Enriching Lives, Forging the Philippines Digital Future.”

In light of the ever-evolving digital landscape, this year’s celebration is a call to Filipinos to embrace the digital transformation era. It aims to emphasize ICT’s crucial role in fostering innovation, collaboration, impact, and inclusivity, ultimately enhancing social and economic growth.

Each week of the celebration highlights a specific area of focus. Week one spotlights digital innovation and inclusion, advocating for fresh thinking and public value creation. It specifically aims to promote innovation ecosystems for startups and ICT industries and for sectors that need empowerment, such as women and the youth.

Week two pivots to digital governance, spotlighting how improved governance can bolster digital transformation and enhance public services. It aims to spotlight government programs aimed at improving digital governance, e-governance, and e-government.

The third week of the celebration focuses on digital workforce competitiveness. In line with Republic Act No. 11927, or the Philippine Digital Workforce Competitiveness Act of 2022, this week emphasizes the need for digital literacy and skills capacity building to improve the workforce’s competitiveness.

The month’s final week concentrates on digital infrastructure and cybersecurity, recognizing their integral role in promoting digital transformation across sectors. This focus aims to raise awareness about the importance of building a safe and secure digital environment.

The DICT is inviting government agencies, local government units, and private sector entities to celebrate National ICT Month 2023 on both national and regional levels. This initiative aims to promote the development and growth of the Philippines’ digital economy, increase ICT awareness, ensure inclusivity in digital initiatives, and encourage collaboration among government, industry, and academia.

Through this celebration, the DICT hopes to inspire more Filipinos to participate in shaping the digital future of the nation, ensuring progress across all sectors and improving the lives of all Filipinos.
